…when I was still in primary school, 8 years old to be precise, my father bought me a computer, not a new one, the good old, second-hand desktop computer, the kind that you put your monitor on top of your CPU, that’s how ancient it was.
Well, honestly I became famous with the fact that I owned a computer at that time. Haha. I lived in a small village and people could barely switch on a computer if they found one.
Getting an internet connection (even at snail pace) was sooo awesome. It was addictive (especially quizilla, which was something I should be ashamed of), and I ultimately became obsessed when I found this website, Webshots.
There were like millions of wonderful images. From there I knew about Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Niagra Falls, Yellowstone… I kept downloading and downloading and changing my wallpaper and screen saver every few seconds and the next thing I knew, the old-school computer broke down numerous times and I could only thank myself for that.
Anyway, I can’t thank my father enough, really. Without that early exposure, I might still be stuck in my village, selling I don’t know, fried banana maybe…
Wish tumblr already existed at that time..
